Living with Arizona Wildlife

Preventing problems with wildlife is much simpler and less aggravating than dealing with the problems after they occur. While we do share the land with wildlife, there are some steps you can take to help keep wildlife wild and prevent property damage and/or safety issues for people and pets living in the area:

  • Do not intentionally feed wildlife
  • Keep bird seed off the ground
  • Store all garbage securely
  • Don’t let your pets roam free
  • Trim shrubs up from the ground

For more information on living with wildlife, including javelina, bobcats and more, visit the Arizona Game and Fish Department website.

Meet Laurie Vuoto

We are pleased to introduce Laurie Vuoto, the new Director of Communications for the Grayhawk Community Association. Laurie will manage all community communications in an effort to inform, educate and engage Grayhawk residents. Read her introduction below and send an email to welcome her to Grayhawk!

Hello, Grayhawk! I am excited to join this wonderful community as your new Communications Director. With a background in strategic communications and a passion for building strong, vibrant communities, I am honored to bring my wealth of experience to Grayhawk.

Most recently, I served as Communications Director at Leisure World in Mesa, Arizona, where I had the privilege of working closely with residents to strengthen engagement through storytelling, event promotion and creative marketing outreach. I am eager to bring that same energy and dedication to Grayhawk.

Throughout my career, I have focused on content development and human-centric messaging for a variety of organizations. I take great joy in getting to know the people I serve, sharing their stories, and helping foster a sense of belonging and pride in the place we all call home.

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband Rich and our two rescue pups, Daphne and Destiny. We love hiking together and discovering hidden gems throughout The Valley. I am also a tennis aficionado and enjoy playing several times a week—both for fun and competitively with my USTA teams.

Please stop by the office and say hello. I look forward to getting to know each of you!

 Best wishes,
 Laurie

Bees

Bee swarms are very common this time of year. Bees swarm when part of a colony breaks off due to reproduction or space constraints. They may look like a hive, but are usually in search of a new home and will not stay long! You can call the GCA Office at 480-563-9708 and patrol will put out signage to alert passersby.
