Turf Transition
Grayhawk’s landscape will have a more abrupt switch from Ryegrass to Bermuda turf this year, commonly called a quick or hard transition. Typically, landscape vendors chose a slow transition method - a gradual process that lasts from the beginning of April through the end of June. But when warm weather arrives, the Ryegrass competes with the dormant Bermuda for sunlight, water and nutrients. This competition can result in a sparse, weak Bermuda crop. A hard transition provides more days of growth for the Bermuda to establish and sustain itself, typically creating a stronger crop of Bermuda.
You can read more about this transition process and what to expect is this document from DLC Resources, the Grayhawk community landscapers. DLC is expected to begin the transition process the week of June 2.
