Arizona Helping Hands Pajama Drive

Help us provide cozy pajamas for boys and girls ages 0-16 in foster care this holiday season through our friends at Arizona Helping Hands! Pajamas need to be new with tags and will be worn all year so they do not necessarily need to have holiday designs. Pajamas can be dropped off at the GCA Office at 7940 E. Thompson Peak Pkwy. Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. or at any holiday event. Email Sarah Van Duyne with any questions.

Preventing/Treating Back Pain

Join Impact Therapy on Dec. 8 from 6-7 p.m. in the Talon Room to learn how to experience life without back pain. This class will consist of both an educational component and a movement component. Space is limited. Register by Dec. 6 to save your spot.

Head outside Dec. 10 from 5-7 p.m. and enjoy festive music, bright sparkly lights and of course, SANTA! The party will be headed down 76th St. in The Park and Santa's helpful elves will be handing out treats and toys to those watching and waving. Santa will be accompanied by his favorite DJ playing fun holiday tunes, so be prepared to dance! After the parade walk down to the Christmas street in Montevina for some cocoa, cookies, and a chance to take a picture with Santa.

The best part of this parade is having resident participation! Do you have a local business you would like to showcase? We are having a battle of the businesses and will vote on who has the best in show for floats or vehicle decorations. Winner will get to sponsor an event of their choice at no cost in 2023! If you have a group interested in participating in the parade, email Sarah at svanduyne@ccmcnet.com. Residents and businesses are invited to LIGHT UP floats, vehicles, golf carts, trailers, vehicle, bikes, or anything you like and participate in the parade.

GCA Office Hours

The Grayhawk Community Association Office will be closing at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, November 23. The office will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 24 and 25 for the Thanksgiving holiday. The office will reopen on Monday, November 28 at 8:00 am.

Short-Term Rental Changes

At the Oct. 25 meeting, the Scottsdale City Council unanimously adopted regulations for vacation and short-term rentals as allowed under state law. Ordinance 4655 requires owners/operators to obtain a license for each rental property and comply with a number of safety, health and neighborhood notification requirements. The ordinance takes effect Nov. 24; the license application portal will open Nov. 28 and owners must complete registration and obtain licenses by Jan. 8, 2023.

Holiday Trash Collection

Trash (black can) collection scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 24 will be moved to Friday, Nov. 25 due to the Thanksgiving holiday. More information on City of Scottsdale trash collection, including the holiday trash and recycling schedule, can be found on the City of Scottsdale website.

Vendor Hours

As a reminder, vendors are normally permitted to work Monday through Friday from 7 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. (quiet work only).

On Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day, no visible vendors are permitted. On both Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, vendors are permitted to do quiet work only between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Transponder Installation

Installations for this week and next will occur on Monday from 8-9 a.m., Tuesday from 2-3 p.m. and Wednesday from 9-10 a.m. at the GCA office (7940 E Thompson Peak Pkwy #102). Please bring a check or credit card with you when you have a transponder installed.
